Change

Change is such a scary word, and also now looks kind of weird because I've just sat googling images of the word for this post, you know when you look at a word for too long - like your own name and it starts to look strange and spelt wrong? change change change change - see?!

Okay, enough nervous rambling.
But the truth is I am SO nervous.
My life has suddenly turned a huge corner and around that corner was a lot of big changes and alterations and that's not something I'm very used too.

For a while I've kind of felt like this guy.
Stood on a ladder of my own life, getting bored and frustrated with waking up every morning and doing the same old things - putting on the same clothes, styling the same hair, going to the same job, etc etc, and change was just a little bit away - just within reach but I wasn't quite there.
I spent a lot of my time trying to change and mould my life into something different and exciting but never really found what I was looking for.
I even got my hair cut so much shorter!
Something I've been undecided whether to do for a while. Getting your hair cut may not seem like a massive change - but in a way it kind of is! Everyone around me has told me how much different I look (I'm assuming in a good way...hopefully) and I've felt a lot more confident in myself as my longer hair was in such a bad condition and never felt nice or fresh, and now my new hair feels great everyday! I also changed the colour up a bit by lighting the ends for the Summer and I love it so much, and I feel like getting it cut marked the beginning of a lot more change to come.

The biggest part of my life I wasn't so happy with was my job.
I didn't hate it but I didn't love it.
The people I worked with I had made friends with and enjoyed working with them everyday but part of me knew I didn't want to work at restaurant for another year of my life, I wanted to try new things, meet new people and have a Summer I would look forward to and enjoy.
I'd been applying for jobs a lot throughout last year, but only ones which included what I was interested in and knew I would want to and waiting for answers from these applications was tedious.
A few got back to me saying I didn't have enough experience or qualifications etc and some didn't get back to me at all (rude).
I went for a couple of interviews but knew as soon as I got to them that they weren't for me and didn't want to go for the first job that accepted me just for the sake of it and make completely the wrong decision.

A few weeks ago a photography-based job came up at a theme park not too far from where I live so I sent off an application and got an email back to ask me to come in for an interview, and I found myself more nervous about this interview than any other, mainly because photography has been something I've wanted to do for as long as I can remember and I really did not want to mess it up.

I tweeted about the interview when I got the email saying how nervous I was, not just because it was an interview but it was a three and a half hour interview involving working in teams with the other interviewees and talking in front of large groups whilst the manager looks on and decides which one is best for the job - SCARY.
I got a few lovely replies from you guys telling me to have confidence in myself and after completely freaking out and almost deciding not to go - I pulled my self together and agreed to have confidence and try not to let my anxious feelings get out of control.

To cut a long story short I attended the interview and got told the same day that I had got the job! (a long with a few others as well) and was surprised beyond belief!
I of course took the job and handed in my notice at my current job within three days and now next week (a week today) is my first day at my new job - ahh!

As the last day at my current job and the first day at my new job gets closer the anxious feelings have been re-surfacing and feeling of question and doubt has started to come - making me question whether I've made the right decision and just general fear of the unknown - has anyone else experienced this during a big change in their life? It's a horrible feeling but one I would like to overcome...

Change is scary AND weird.
If you look for it, it's hard to find but then when you least expect it it comes out of nowhere and surprises you!

Whats changed in your life recently?

Coconut Lane || DISCOUNT CODE

Recently I have been loving a good slogan.
Whether it's on a T-shirt, hoodie, Instagram photo or wall art, I love how they look and the messages they give across - whether sassy or cute ;)

I came across on Twitter a website called Coconut Lane which sells slogan items, phone cases and even cute little socks.

My online basket was soon filling up and the pieces I purchases I absolutely LOVE.
(I have included a unique 20% off discount code at the bottom for you to use on the website if you see anything you like - which I'm almost sure you will!)

If  you've seen Mean Girls you'll get this quote, and if you haven't seen Mean Girls then where have you been?!

I have a photo wall in my bedroom so these slogan pictures will go perfectly on there.
The website also gives the option to add a white frame to the wall art pictures, which is super handy as trying to find frames to fit photos in the right colour and perfect size is an on-going nightmare!

How cute it this! (my own frame)

How pretty is this phone case?!
I've been looking for a new case for a while but nothing really took my eye, but this marble effect one I loved as soon as I saw it.
The design is quite subtle but I think looks so cute, and I appreciate a lot how it carries on around the edges of the phone case rather than just having the design on the back, like most phone cases do.
It's very strong as well but not too thick that it makes the phone heavy.
 I just loooooooove it.

If you're interest in any of these products or want to take a look at what other things the website sells I have a unique discount running which will give you 20% off your order!
Just enter daffodilsdaisys20 into the voucher code box at the checkout and you'll receive the discount :)

Makeup & Skincare Storage

Today is a 'milestone' day I hit 1000 followers on Twitter!
woohoo!
Thank-you to everyone who has followed and read my blog the past couple of years, I appreciate every one of you.

Back to the point...
Makeup storage is something that should be so simple, but it took me forever to find suitable homes for all my cosmetics.
I'm one of these people who like to have everything in its place so, skin care in one area, hair products in another, everyday makeup in an easy to reach place etc etc.
Over the past year my makeup collection has grown rapidly meaning my old storage methods was not enough.
I did a little search on Amazon and eBay for some draws or something but couldn't find anything that was really what I wanted and suited the decor in my bedroom.
Finally! Hurrah hurrah! Sound the bells and throw your hats in the air for joy - I have managed to get together a collection of makeup all nicely packed away in an organised and aesthetically pleasing manner - enjoy.

My brushes are kept in this little white 'lace-effect' pot from Ikea. They are supposed to be used for flower pots but work perfectly for makeup brushes, and I also own matching ones in pale green for keeping my hair brushes and deodorants in.

I use this cute little bowl (previously featured in my Bedroom Tour - Autumn Edition post) to keep my everyday makeup in.
(Please excuse the state of the sponges - they have been cleaned! If you own on of these you will know just how hard they are to keep looking nice!).

How CUTE is this little brief case?! I came across this in a home-ware shop in town and instantly had the idea to have it on my desk opened up to keep my bottled products in. I find bottles are so hard to keep looking neat and tidy and never fit altogether in a pot properly, but like this they look so cute! I also love how the briefcase has a rustic and rough look to it as I have other shabby chic decor pieces around my bedroom so it fits in nicely.
I also placed the little mug inside just to keep the smaller items such as mascara and eye shadow pens together.

These little drawers were originally my only makeup storage before I started collecting and using more. I love how shabby chic they look...and yes the middle knob has fallen off but I love them too much to get rid of them for new ones!

In the top drawer I keep all my small creams, face masks, wax strips etc. Most of these are sample ones I've kept from magazines.

The second draw is homed to two eye shadow palettes and my contour kit.

The third and final draw has all my smaller eye shadow palettes in and also a couple of tiny travel Real Technique brushes which I find useful for applying eye shadows or tidying up foundation/concealer.

All of this is placed on my desk under my mirror so I can reach it easily when doing my makeup.
I am so pleased with how it looks!
If you have spotted anything in these photos that you would like me to review or tell you where to buy - let me know :)

Mini Boots, Superdrug & Primark Haul

I had a couple of days off work this week (naturally) decided to spend one of them having a bit of alone time shopping in my favourite town.

Primark was top of my list mainly because I watched VelvetGh0st's haul on YouTube and saw so many things I loved and also just because who doesn't love Primark?!
Surprisingly though I didn't actually buy as much as I was expecting - I find it one of those shops where you either go in and love everything and spend far too much money or you can't find anything at all that you like - and today (luckily for my bank account) there wasn't much that tickled my fancy but I still managed to find a couple of pieces I had to buy...

How CUTE is this pajama set?
All my current pajamas are a mix-matched pile of clothes that are old T-shirts I don't wear out anymore or Christmas sets that still need to be worn because it's still freezing at night and they are so fluffy... (we all do it - admit it).
So I am determined to make my pajama draw a bit more on the cute and matching side.
This set was the only pattern I liked on this particular shopping day and although at first I thought they looked a little bit like a picnic blanket, I actually love them so much - cute!
This set was £8.

If you don't own a pair of Primark Super Cosy tights then you are missing out on the comfiest things ever.
I'm pretty sure I pick up a new pair of these every time I go shopping and at £3 you can't really go wrong.
They are lined with fleece inside and go lovely with flat shoes and a skirt with a shirt tucked in - even in Winter.

These boots are my most favourite purchase of the day - and they actually had them in my size!! (I'm a size 7 or 8 in UK sizes and its almost impossible to find nice shoes in a size that big).
I live in boots but all the ones I own are pretty much the same style and colour so I wanted something a bit different.
I found these on the shelf with only a couple left so I was lucky to find a pair!
They are swede and just come up to your ankle so they look perfect with a pair of frilly socks pocking out the top just to add a little bit of girly to your look, and also helps to cover up that horrible bunched up bit at the bottom of skinny jeans that scrunches up over ankle boots.
I kind of think they give a vintage look to an outfit especially with the laces done up in a bow. (a bit neater than in the photo though!)

Moving onto drugstores...

I went into both Boots and Superdrug and found these on offer for something silly like £1.90 a bottle (reduced from £3.99 each) and they were instantly put into my basket.
I've recently stopped using Tresemme shampoo and moved onto Garnier Ultimate Blends just because of all the amazing reviews I've heard about them. I started with their duo of shampoo and conditioner for sensitive scalps which smells so fresh and clean but decided to pick these two up instead as they help to recover split ends, which I've recently been suffering with. I'm loving Ultimate Blends at the moment and theres one for every hair type possible and the shelves in this section of the shop are almost nearly always empty because they are so popular, if you're looking for new shampoo/conditioner definitely give this a go!

Sticking with hair I found this little bottle of heat protector spray next to the shampoo above.
It's the same scent and ingredients as my previously used sensitive scalp shampoo 'delicate oats' and is designed to be sprayed onto wet hair before blow drying to help protect your hair from heat damage. I'm currently using a Tresemme product for heat protection but the bottle has almost ran out and I much prefer the smell and ingredients of this Ultimate Blends one. It's all natural and smells delicious! (And is also a lot easier to store as it's much bless bulky than Tresemme and sits snug with all my other bottles of products).

I recently watched one of Eve Bennett's YouTube videos were she mentioned this Garnier Micellar Cleansing water for removing makeup.
Not being very broadly minded in the way of skin care I always thought the best way of removing makeup was by using wipes and that's what I have always done, so I picked up one of these in Boots and the Cotton Pads in Superdrug to give it a try.
I have only used this once so far last night to remove my makeup and I'm highly impressed!
I tweeted about it first asking is anybody else uses it and how well it works and a lot of people got back to me saying how much better is removes makeup than wipes and now after using it I totally agree.
A little of this goes a long way - depending on how much makeup you're wearing - so the bottle should hopefully last a long time, it states on the back it should last up to 200 uses!  (on offer at £3.99 but usually £5 a bottle), and I have enough cotton pads to last me a life time! Once I'd removed my makeup I used a Simple makeup wipe over my face expecting to find mascara or foundation that the Micellar Water had missed but there was nothing!
Once my makeup was off my skin felt so soft and refreshed and still felt this way the next morning and I don't know about anybody else but waking up with a fresh feeling face is one of the best feelings.

It is completely fragrance free and includes ingredients that soothes and refreshes the skin and can be used on any skin type - including sensitive so if you suffer from any type of skin problem such as eczema or dry skin this can be used to remove makeup without irritating your face afterwards.

That's it for this haul!
I surprised myself at hardly buying anything this shopping trip, but I got some pretty boots so what else do I really need? ;)

I have a few upcoming posts coming soon including reviews on some new products (some of the above will also be featured) so keep your eye out for those!
