How To Cope With Summer When you Hate The Heat

Summer is most definitely here.
Sticky skin, uncomfortable clothes, rubbing shoes, car so hot you can't even touch the steering wheel, frizzy hair, and not enough water in the world to cool you down.
I'm sure many of you are reading this in disbelief thinking 'how can anybody not like Summer?!'
Quite simply really.

Okay okay, I don't completely HATE Summer, the sun puts everyone in a good mood and it's a lot easier to go for a day out without needing to take mountains of extra clothes with you for warmth, but that aside I'd choose Autumn/Winter any day.

Over the years of disliking Summer, I've found this year one of the easier ones to cope with - I definitely feel like I've compiled a little 'survival kit' in my head to help me get through the few weeks we have of hot weather before the colder ones arrive.
So if you're a heat disliker like me, read on for some - hopefully - helpful tips on coping with Summer.

Minimal Makeup
The worst worst worst thing on a hot day is the feeling of your foundation literally dripping off your face, maybe not literally but it definitely doesn't stay in one place and then you end up with patchy skin and the urge to just want to dunk your head in a bucket of water to get the rest of it off.
Wearing minimal makeup helps A LOT.
I've been applying Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer on any blemishes, spots, and under my eyes blending it in with a Real Techniques blending sponge, adding Revolution Vivid Baked bronzer to my cheeks and places the sun would naturally hit, a touch of eyeshadow, Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara, a natural (or red if you're feeling extra daring) shade of lipstick and walah!
I find this keeps my skin looking natural and healthy without the worry of sweating it off throughout the day, (gross but true).

Condition the hell out of your hair
Not everyone may find this helpful during hot weather, but my hair is very thick and I hate the feeling of dry hair during Summer, or hair thats lost its shine on the 'non wash day.'
I find using extra conditioner in the shower, and leaving it on my hair for a while longer than usual before rinsing helps it to stay soft and shiny for at least two days, (I'm a 'wash my hair every other day' person). And soft and shiny hair just makes everything feel better, even in scorching heat!

Make carrying face wipes an essential
Theres nothing better than taking a good old Simple makeup wipe to your face at the end of a long hot sweaty day to get all your makeup off, but they are also great for feeling fresh throughout the day. I tend to carry a packet along with me to work each day, to freshen up during the day or at the end of the day before going out. If you've braved a no-makeup or minimal makeup day, it feels sooo good to be able to cool down your face quickly and easily, especially in greasy or oily areas around the nose or forehead, oooooh yeah.

Don't feel pressured to enjoy the Summer
Although everyone around you may be loving the hot weather, and never wanting cold weather to reappear, that doesn't mean you have to feel the same. I spend the year looking forward to Autumn and Winter time, knowing full well that 99% of people around me are counting down to Summer meanwhile calling me weird for not joining them. YOU DON'T HAVE TO LIKE SUMMER. I really feel like it's one of those things where everyone is expected to like it, and its not okay if you don't, but really it definitely is.

And above all...just remember, all the clothes websites put their jumpers on sale in the Summer so if you're feeling blue, sit yourself infant of a fan, glass of ice water in hand and get shopping as Winter lasts a loooooooooot longer than Summer, (if you live in the UK anyway) plus jumpers put any cold weather loving person in a good mood right?!
